About

Pianist Gavin Laur has performed across the United States and abroad, at venues including Jaani Kirik in St. Petersburg, Russia, Castle Prösels in Völs am Schlern, Italy, and the Musical Instrument Museum in Scottsdale, Arizona. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance (Summa cum Laude) from Arizona State University, as well as a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College. Currently based in Philadelphia, he maintains a large studio of private piano students in and around Philly.

As a teacher, he first and foremost cultivates a love of music and music-making. To this end, he helps students become independent, life-long learners as soon in the process as possible, so they can pursue their own passions and interests at the instrument. He leaves students with a feeling of genuine excitement after every lesson so they are eager to practice and develop out of their own inspiration.

“Gavin is a phenomenal pianist and an equally phenomenal piano instructor. His approach to teaching is brilliantly unorthodox and creative. I am having a blast. I have never been this excited about learning to play the piano. Thanks, Gavin Barry!”
